Volunteer Opportunities
After School Clubs
Manzano Mesa Elementary School is always looking for new after school club ideas. If you have a talent or hobby that you would like to share with students, please contact our Community School Coordinator. Our Coordinator will be happy to discuss the possibility of you becoming a member of our after school family.
Parent-Teacher Association
Taking an active role in your children’s school is critical to their success. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of parents and teachers/staff that work together to support administration and the community for the benefit of the school. They support and speak on behalf of children in the schools, in the community, to be a voice for the school.
The Manzano Mesa PTA seeks to provide support for the families, teachers, and staff both inside and outside the classroom. Manzano Mesa is a Title I school which means that a significant amount of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Because our families have limited incomes, the PTA must expand our fundraising efforts to the wider Albuquerque community. Check out our PTA website or contact the PTA at ptamanzanomesa@gmail.com.
WATCH D.O.G.S.
Watch D.O.G.S. needs your help! WatchD.O.G.S. is an organization of fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least once a year in a variety of school activities. WatchD.O.G.S. may read with students, join recess and lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, and any other activities where you are able to actively engage with your own students and other students as well. Many principals have reported that the presence of a Watch D.O.G. reduces reports of bullying.
For more information, please contact the community school coordinator. All volunteers are subject to a background check. Review the APS Volunteer resource information to learn how to become a volunteer. Review our Volunteer Brochure for information on programs you can volunteer for at our school.
