  • Breakfast Doors Open: 9:05 am
  • Instruction Begins: 9:15 am
  • Recess/Lunch: 
    • NM PreK: 11:45-12:15 (Lunch)
    • Kinder: 12:00-12:30 (Lunch) / 12:30-12:40 (Recess)
    • 1st Grade: 11:45-12:15 (Lunch) / 12:15-12:25 (Recess)
    • 2nd Grade: 12:20-12:50 (Lunch) / 12:50-1:00 (Recess)
    • 3rd Grade: 12:30-1:00 (Lunch) / 1:00-1:10 (Recess)
    • 4th Grade: 1:00-1:30 (Lunch) / 1:30-1:40 (Recess)
    • 5th Grade: 12:45-1:15 (Lunch) / 1:15-1:25 (Recess)
  • Dismissal: 4:00

Manzano Mesa Tardy Policy

  • Breakfast doors open at 9:05 a.m. School begins at 9:15 a.m.
  • Students arriving after 9:15 a.m. are considered tardy and must check in at the front office. 
  • Enter Through the Front Office:
    A parent or guardian must bring all students arriving after the final bell to the front office. For safety reasons, students may not enter through any doors other than the designated ones.
  • Sign In Your Child:
    Please sign your child in at the front desk. This ensures we have an accurate attendance record and helps keep our school safe.
  • Get a Tardy Slip:
    The office will provide your child with a tardy slip. This slip lets the teacher know the child has been properly signed in and can head to class.
  • Share Any Relevant Info:
    If there's a reason for the tardiness we should be aware of (e.g., a doctor's appointment), let the front office know so it can be properly noted. The doctor may also fax us a doctor’s note at (505) 292-6719. Repeated tardiness will result in family contact and an attendance support plan.
  • Encourage a Positive Start:
    A quick goodbye and a smile can help your child transition smoothly into the school day—even if it started a little late.
  • Late Departures: While we recognize that unexpected situations arise, please notify the school immediately. Families are responsible for establishing backup transportation plans, especially if late pickups occur frequently. Please keep in mind that our staff members are not compensated to provide supervision beyond their contracted duty hours.

We appreciate your support in scheduling appointments outside the school day. This helps your child focus on their learning.

 

Abbreviated Day / Inclement Weather

If it is announced that APS schools will be delayed due to inclement weather, the school day for students will begin two hours later than the regular schedule. 

  • Arrival: 11:15
  • Dismissal: 4:00
