Volunteer Opportunities

Homework Diner

Homework Diner is in need of help! Homework Diner at Manzano Mesa Elementary School is looking for volunteers to assist in setting up for the diner and is also looking for volunteers to help tutor students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Contact the community school coordinator for more information.

After School Clubs

Manzano Mesa Elementary School is always looking for new after school club ideas.  If you have a talent or hobby that you would like to share with students, please contact our Community School Coordinator.  Our Coordinator will be happy to discuss the possibility of you becoming a member of our after school family.

Mentoring Program

MMES is proud to offer a unique Community Academic Mentoring Program (CAMP), established in Spring of 2015.  The program is available to first and second graders who need a little extra support in reading.  Our students receive two extra hours per week of one-one-one reading practice with a trained community member.  We are always recruiting mentors!  If you are available and want to join our mentoring team for one hour per week from 1-2 PM, any day of the week (except Wednesdays), please contact Kirsten Sanchez at: mmestutoringprogram@gmail.com

Watch D.O.G.S.

WatchD.O.G.S. needs your help! WatchD.O.G.S. is an organization of fathers, grandfathers, step fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least once a year in a variety of school activities. WatchD.O.G.S. may read with students, join recess and lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, and any other activities where you are able to actively engage with your own students and other students as well. Many principals have reported that the presence of a Watch D.O.G. reduces reports of bullying.

For more information, please contact the community school coordinator.

All volunteers are subject to a background check. Review the APS Volunteer resource information to learn how to become a volunteer.
